Gary's Thoughts on Finding People

If you want to have a highly successful Shaklee business you MUST learn how to find people to whom you can show the Shaklee Opportunity.

I have been in this Shaklee for over 38 years and have never enjoyed this part of the business. I enjoy giving a simple presentation, teaching, motivating, leading; but I always had to push myself to make that contact to set up an appointment.

Then why is it that Faye and I have one of the largest organizations in Shaklee? When the most basic activity is something I don't enjoy doing? It's simple. I understood if I wimped out and didn't make contacts, then I couldn't enjoy the incredible benefits this business offers. We have the business we have because we did what we didn't like to do.

Every job, career or business has fundamentals you might not like. However, consider:

  • Do you like working for someone else?
  • Do you like driving in traffic?
  • Do you like 4% annual raises for your efforts?
  • Do you like being told how much vacation time you'll have?

Here's the point, everyone has to do some things they don't like to do, yet are willing to do them for 20 to 30 years working for someone else. Why not do something you don't like and be self-employed with an exciting future? Make a decision to contact people for the purpose of setting an appointment to show them the Shaklee Opportunity.

To get our network started I contacted lots of people. Liking it didn't seem to be an issue. It was just something I had to do. Like most of you, I don't like:

  • rejection.
  • someone telling me I'm crazy and their company is better than mine.
  • hearing all the whiny reasons why someone can't sell.
  • being in a conversation with people who talk too much and know it all.

But I know these responses are typical and common.

Many people I have worked with put me through a litany of things I really didn't like. Yet I do it because the Shaklee Opportunity offered me everything I've ever dreamed of: more income than 99% of everyone in America, incredible personal freedom, and a way to do what I love to do which is teach and coach.

Your success will be determined by your attitude, your mindset and your belief. Someone with a good attitude about people and prospecting, a mindset for consistent effort and a belief in other people can always have a steady stream of new people coming into their organization on a regular basis.
