HOW CAN I BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION

USE MEETINGS TO BUILD STRONG DIRECTORS & STRONG LEGS

BUILD STRONG DIRECTORS

A strong Director:

  • Is well established when they breakout – they have a minimum of 20 members in their personal group
  • Has a minimum of 3,000 PV
  • Is in a position to grow beyond minimum levels, both as measured by PV and rank – they have 3 to 4 builders at all times working along with them to become Directors

A strong Director has goals that are well beyond being a minimum Director – for example, a target to average a minimum 5,000 PV and to become a Senior Director within the first 6 months.

A strong Director establishes standards that guarantee their continuing growth. For example:
  • Have a minimum of three 1-on-1 Shaklee opportunity presentations each week during your first 6 months
  • 10 or more builders in their group earning bonuses each month – this is a great indication of the strength of their personal group.
  • 3 to 4 builder legs – these are builders who are actively working to breakout as Directors.
  • 35 to 50 members/distributors in their personal group – this is the minimum base of users.
  • Have a goal to backup every new Director breakout with 2 Directors under them.

BUILD STRONG LEGS – EXECUTIVE COORDINATOR AND ABOVE

When you build strong legs you create stability, strength and growth in your Shaklee organization. The best way to accomplish this is to build wide and “work in-depth”. That means you work directly at all levels in your organization – you have direct contact.

Certainly, we all expect the builders and leaders under us to provide training and leadership. But to be certain that people at every level in your organization understand the big picture, the future possibilities for them, it will require they have contact with you.

From day one, make sure you get to know the people your contacts know, and then the people they know and so on. This creates a widening circle of prospects that allows you to explore the possibilities that may exist in someone else’s circle of influence. Discovering an excited person somewhere down a sponsorship leg will energize the entire group above!

Communication is key – opening up channels of communication will accomplish several things.

  1. You’ll find new people
  2. You’ll energize the person who brought this new person to light
  3. You’ll build loyalty
  4. You’ll be building insurance (roll-up possibilities)

Some effective ways you can influence your whole group or organization include small in-home meetings, regular e-mail contacts, conference calls, webinars and conferences.

A key rule of thumb is to work with not for those in your group. You want them to become independent and not depend on you indefinitely. The sooner they are initiating rather than merely following, the closer you are to having a stable capable leader.

If you find yourself doing it all for your people, you will forever be limited. For example, our practice became that we would hold the first couple of meetings for a prospective builder. They carried on after that, but we continued to show up on a regular basis. At first it might have been every other week, then once a month, then maybe 2, 3 or 4 times a year.

We are confident that meetings are the single most important activity that got us to the rank of Presidential Master Coordinator – meetings that we held as well as the hundreds of meetings taking place downline all throughout our organization.

MEETINGS ARE ESSENTIAL TO BUILD A LARGE SHAKLEE ORGANIZATION

Meetings are the best means available to build a foundation of strong Directors and strong legs. All of the large Shaklee organizations have been built on a foundation of regular meetings and we continue to believe they are absolutely critical to developing Business Leaders.

Why are meetings such a key necessity for developing Business Leaders? Meetings are a place:
  • For you to bring new prospects and new members
  • For your builders to bring new prospects and new members
  • For training, motivation, encouragement & recognition
  • To keep the dream alive when discouragement sets in
  • For you to develop into a leader yourself
  • To build community and relationships within your personal group. For many, this may be the only positive environment they are in all week!

Shaklee isn’t always an easy business, but the Shaklee Dream Compensation Plan will well compensate you for your efforts. Naturally, there is a learning curve. There are fundamentals and a process to learn and skills to develop. Meetings can accelerate that learning curve.

Getting people to attend Shaklee meetings isn’t always easy either. People have busy lives and may be reluctant to come hear about an “opportunity.” Many people in today’s world have been asked to attend such meetings and have felt burned or bothered. But, just because it isn’t easy shouldn’t mean you eliminate a major fundamental of the business.

Those who are reluctant to give meetings on a regular schedule say things like….

  • “When I give meetings, no one comes.”
  • “Meetings aren’t popular around here.”
  • “I tried meetings and they didn’t work for me.”
  • “I prefer working with internet leads.”
  • “I’m not a good speaker.”

But, there are some solutions.

  • Invite more people.
  • Work on your technique….Don’t be pushy.
  • Written invitations don’t work well. Face to face is more effective.
  • Work from a call list. Ask each person for a yes, no or maybe.
  • Invite new prospects as well as repeat prospects. Calling the same 10 people every week isn’t effective.
  • Keep your meetings interesting. Start on time. End on time.
  • Tell accurate stories. Give personal testimonies. Ask questions.
  • From time to time host pot luck events….but don’t allow to pot luck nights to turn into a “food only” event. An organized presentation or a handout must be part of the evening.

What about webinars?
In today’s world of technology, some see webinars as a replacement for the regular weekly meeting. Webinars are a new and valuable way to communicate and stay in touch with other Shaklee people. However, even though they are a great way to reach people all over the country, in small towns and large, they are not a substitute for the local in-home meetings where people meet others eye to eye. They are a great supplement to the small local meetings, but at the end of the day, Shaklee is a relationship business which means gathering together in person on a regular basis.

Big meetings vs. small meetings
Many people like the enthusiasm they get at the larger BIG city-wide meetings as opposed to small in-home meetings. However, new people need an example of how to build. If they don’t ever see a small in-home meeting they think a highly successful business is built in hotel rooms where they hear from a few local experienced sales leaders. How will someone gain experience and move forward if they don’t host their own little meetings?

Big city-wide meetings are beneficial when they are a supplement to the many small in-home meetings taking place all over an area. Those are the meetings that feed the larger events. These larger meetings are a place to gather occasionally to see the larger picture of what is going on in the Shaklee world and to be inspired by the excitement that is created, but the real work takes place in your own in-home meeting.

The Big Picture
Finally, remember that a future in which Shaklee pays you $100,000 to $500,000 a year in bonus earnings is possible if you are willing to:

  1. Follow a sound plan
  2. Do the initial work – recruiting wide and working deep.
  3. Be consistent with your efforts and attitude.
  4. Be a support for your downline.

There are very few opportunities that offer the kind of potential that Shaklee does - an opportunity backed by 54 years of success, highly effective products supported by science, millions of dollars spent in research and development, and a lucrative compensation plan that will pay to infinite generations. We want you to understand that working hard for 5 years will build a foundation that will provide you with a secure financial future. Shaklee is not a get rich quick scheme, but it is a get rich slow opportunity.
