GARY & FAYE BURKE HAVE EARNED $11 MILLION IN A
FORTY YEAR SHAKLEE CAREER |
STEP ONE: HAVE DESIRE
Have the Desire to
- increase your income
- change your life
- intensify your personal commitment to build.
We invite you to take the “leadership path” to success in Shaklee. The biggest money in our business ultimately comes from
leadership, not from selling products or mass recruiting.
Leadership in Shaklee is
demonstrated. Leaders set the pace - they:
- Are positive and determined
- Have well thought-out goals and a detailed plan for attaining them
- Set standards for themselves that would guarantee success
- Are students, always working to get better and be more effective
- Provide an environment for growth for their group – holding weekly meetings, webinars, conferences, etc.
- Learn how to help others achieve their goals
- Get good at believing in others
- Are encouragers
- Are problem-solvers
- Set the pace and lead by example
- Make things happen
STEP TWO: MAKE A FIRM DECISION
Make a firm decision to do the things that leaders do. Decide, commit to your decision, and then act on your commitment! It’s one thing to have desire – most people want more. It’s a different thing altogether to start moving forward based on a decision and commitment.
STEP THREE: SET GOALS
Set goals that are well thought-out. Then design a detailed plan for attaining those goals.
Why? Goals do four things:
- Define what’s important to you
- Give you direction
- Help you focus and stay on track
- Create excitement
Over time, you will probably modify your business goals and make adjustments to your plan. Go back and forth until your plan becomes both one you can do and one you will do.
But how do I set goals? The goals required for success in Shaklee must be designed around those business activities that are needed to build volume and to develop Business Leaders. So, what kind of business activities should I set goals around?
- Self-development – what and how do I need to get better?
- How many people do I want to sponsor – weekly and monthly?
- How many meetings do I want to conduct – weekly and monthly?
- How many product events do I want to have – weekly and monthly?
- How many serious builders do I want to be working with at all times?
- How many Business Leaders do I want to promote – each quarter and each year
Bonus Check earnings, Bonus Cars, and Incentive Trips are great motivators, but they don’t actually get the work done. They are why we are willing to do the work; they are what keep us going - but we have to practice the activities that will get us to these ‘goodies’. Remember, new goals always require new thinking and new behavior.
STEP FOUR: PUT YOURSELF TO WORK
You can get started right away, even as you are working on your goal setting and planning,
- Sponsor as a GOLD member…or upgrade to a GOLD membership
- Use all the products.
- Get to regular Shaklee meetings
- Start a prospect list.
- Pick up the phone and start talking to your friends.
- Get your upline sponsor or Business Leader to help you with your initial business presentations, meetings and product events
- Don’t give up – get better
You haven’t made the firm decision required by Step 2 if you are not willing to start on these things NOW.
STEP FIVE: HAVE A “LEADERSHIP VIEW”
The way you view Shaklee will determine the way you will teach it and the way you will work at it, and these behaviors are how you can build a large organization of downline Business Leaders in Shaklee.
How can I develop this leadership view?
- Mimic successful people
- When we were young and inexperienced in Shaklee with a goal of becoming Master Coordinators, we used every available opportunity to find out what Master Coordinators did and how they did it. Then we tried to duplicate that as best as we could.
-
Hang around other people in Shaklee who have the same goals you have.
- Avoid people who are negative — i.e., those who are always questioning, doubting, and finding problems.
- Find people who want the same things in Shaklee that you want and will do the things necessary to build a business.
- The “good people” are the people who try to understand the business, use a lot of products, come to meetings, ask questions, do what they say they will do, prospect, and are trying to get better.
- Don’t spend your energy trying to turn people into Business Leaders who say they want a business but don’t actually do anything. Keep looking and keep improving your skills until you are able to find people who actually are willing to do what we do. Then, work with the willing!
It’s not easy to build a large and successful downline. But it is simple, as there are only a few things you have to get good at.
You can get better. You can become more confident. You can become a leader. You will be frustrated at times. You will be tested. But if you invest 3 to 5 years of effort, continue to improve your skills, and move past setbacks and disappointments, you will build a successful business in Shaklee.
Make your dreams and goals come to life. Decide that you can make it BIG in Shaklee. Decide that the Shaklee Dream Compensation Plan will be your career path. Then, match your work ethic to your ambition. The Dream Compensation Plan will pay you according to your commitment and your efforts. Dream BIG! Set BIG goals!
Some take-aways to help you build your Shaklee business:
- Consistency will beat talent.
- Don’t ever allow challenges to become excuses.
- You will never have what you don’t pursue.
- As you improve your confidence, you also improve your capacity to achieve higher levels.
- Trust the system…..IT WILL WORK. Trust yourself while doing it.
