Last night Faye and I stopped at a Dairy Queen for a treat. There were a couple of young guys in line just ahead of us and on the back of one of the shirts read the following:
Hard work beats talent,
when talent doesn't work hard.
In this mornings Minneapolis newspaper there is an article about Herb Brooks being enshrined into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Herb was the coach who won the gold medal beating the Russians in 1980.
The USA team was made up of kids in college and the Russians were professionals. This victory was called a miracle by many sports writers for years and as voted to be the best single sports victory of the 20th century.
Dan Brooks, Herb's son, was quoted in the paper this morning as saying, "He always told me, it really wasn't a miracle, it was hard work, 10 months of blood, sweat and tears. Those 20 guys worked their tails off."
Herb was a driver. An extremely hard worker and he expected it from the guys he coached. He was a great example of hard work. The reason I know this is true is because I went to high school with Herbie and played baseball with him for two years. In high school he ran with weights on his ankles, this was in 1954-55. No one else did that.
Now for my obvious point for this message ...
Faye and I aren't any different than anyone else as far as we're concerned. But I will say this and you'll have to excuse me for saying it, but we just plain and simple worked at this Shaklee buisness harder than most people. I felt like quitting at times. We didn't grow like other Shaklee leaders did. It took almost three times the years for us to get to Master Coordinator as others were making it in the 80's.
I'm not saying these things to lift us up in any way, shape or form. I'm just trying to say that I got inspired last night by something on a shirt worn by a teenager, and it's true ...
Hard work is THE ANSWER!
The products aren't the answer. The people in your downline aren't the answer. Shaklee management isn't THE ANSWER. Hard work is the answer and this business is hard work ... but worth every minute you might invest in working it.
Look at your attitude and your effort. There lies your future in building your Shaklee business.
Have a terrific 4th of July in THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, the USA!
Enthusiastically,
